Certificates

Every Orivian course builds to a summit: a certificate with your name, the course, the date and an ID anyone can check. Here's what earns one, what it does and doesn't mean, and how to share it.

Earning one

Two things, in this order: complete every lesson in the course (recaps included), then pass its summit exam. What the summit is depends on the track:

TrackSummit examYou earn
Orivian CertifyAny of the course’s full-length practice exams, at its passing lineAn Orivian Certificate of Completion
Orivian EssentialsThe course’s certification exam: 50 questions, 70% to passThe course’s Orivian credential, like Orivian Certified Excel Specialist (OrCES)
Orivian After HoursThe course’s certification exam: 50 questions, 70% to passThe course’s Orivian credential, like Orivian Certified Trivia Strategist (OrCTS)

Once both are done, your certificate is issued automatically and appears at the bottom of the course page and on your profile. Checkpoints don't count toward it, but they're the best way to know you're ready. How exams work has the details on each exam.

Orivian Basecamp, the starter course, doesn't have a certificate.

Honors

  • With Distinction: 90% or higher on the summit exam.
  • Perfect Score: 100%.
  • Already have the certificate? Pass the exam again with a better score and it's upgraded in place, with the same ID, so links you've shared keep working.

What it means (and doesn’t)

  • It never expires. Nothing you do later, including learning decay, can take it away.
  • Certify certificates aren't the industry certification. An Orivian CISSP certificate shows you completed Orivian's CISSP prep course. The CISSP itself is awarded only by ISC2, and the same goes for every other certifying body.
  • Orivian credentials aren't accredited. They're Orivian's own proof that you learned the course and passed its exam, and every certificate says so.

Sharing and verifying

  • Every certificate has an ID in its corner, like ORV-7K3Q-9XPA, and its own page you can link to, for example from LinkedIn.
  • Anyone can enter the ID on the Verify page to see who earned it, for which course and when. Nothing else about you is shown.
  • Download PDF on the certificate page opens your browser's print dialog: choose Save as PDF, landscape, with background graphics on.
